Hotels near Singapore Changi Airport & Singapore City Accommodations

My correspondent in Singapore & twitter buddy @radiojen sent me this pic of the train platform sign at the SG MRT Station for the Changi - Singapore Downtown East West Airport Train Line. Great that the Singapore Changi Airport is connected to the city by train, and there’s a bunch of Apps available for your smart phone for travel around the city including train timetables, city maps (see links below). All this might be very helpful for the folks headed there for the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix in September (check grandprixcities.com link for F1 GP dates / news / travel info hotels) .

Thanks Jen, This is a blessing for travelers on a budget. Just a little info like this could save folks a bunch of money on the airport transfer / taxi cab fare prices, that go through the roof during big event times. Those who visited for last year’s inagural grand prix are still reeling from the excessive hotel taxes foisted on tourists. I’ve heard this issue has been dealt with for the 2009 event. Let me know if you’ve heard any different.
